Biography
St Aaron is believed to have been born on the British Isle, possibly in Wells. The exact date of his birth is unknown. Devoting his life towards his passion for Christ, he became a hermit, living on an island near Aleth, France. The island was accessible by land during low tide and he was visited by many disciples, including St Malo. Malo shared his glory of his apostleship with him and Aaron became abbot (father, leader of the monastery) to Malo and many others.
He died c522. The island bore Aaron’s name until 1150, when the then bishop of Aleth translated his see to the city of St Malo, which encompassed the whole island, and St Malo became the now known name of the island.
St Aaron’s feast day is June 22. He is considered a patron saint for those who live passionate, steadfast lives
